SOMA® Breath

SOMA® Breath is a holistic breathwork system that weaves together rhythmic breathing, meditation and music to bring harmony to body, mind and spirit.  Grounded in both ancient wisdom and modern science, it offers tools to reduce stress, restore energy, and awaken the body's innate intelligence. Each session becomes a journey inward - using music the synchronises with your breath, and visualisations, you're guided into states of deep inner peace and heightened states of consciousness, where clarity, healing and insight naturally unfold.

This will change your life

Each session is slightly different but all they follow roughly the same pattern of elements; movement, chanting, and breathwork.  Each stage is carefully placed to work in synergy, creating a powerful and transformative experience.

The ultimate goal is to prepare your body for the breath hold phases, the pinnacle of the practice, placing you into a controlled state of brief intermittent hypoxia. Through intermittent hypoxic training (IHT), your cells have a workout, bringing about countless physical benefits, increased vitality and deep healing.

The rhythmic breathing patterns entrain your brainwaves to specific frequencies, such as alpha and theta, which are linked to relaxation, creativity, and deep meditative states. During breath retention phases, the brain shifts to gamma, a state of heightened awareness, creating the perfect conditions for emotional release, subconscious reprogramming, and profound insights . It’s like giving your brain a reset button, allowing you to access deeper layers of your mind and unlock your full potential.

01 Movement

This phase releases stagnant energy, improves circulation, and prepares the body for deeper states of relaxation and focus.

This can be done through 'neurobics', an ambidexterity dance that also helps to improve cognitive function, or more of a flowing Qigong style of movement, or sometimes we tear up the rule book and go for completely free, ecstatic dance.

02 Chanting

In this section we use sound vibrations to harmonise the mind and body, activating and toning the vagus nerve and stimulating the endocrine system.​  

 

This creates a state of connection and calm and can be done a number of ways including humming and chanting the seed sound 'Om' (AUM).  

 

Your own voice vibrates at a healing frequency that's unique to you, it can feel awkward at first but once you relax into it, it feels wonderful.

03 Breathwork

​Guided by me and the music you'll move through two phases. 

​

First, rhythmic breathing patterns help regulate your nervous system, bring about system coherence, and synchronise brainwaves, inducing a state of relaxed alertness. Finally, the breath retention activates your body’s natural pharmacy, releasing beneficial hormones and neurotransmitters like dopamine and even endogenous DMT. This is where the real magic happens.

Music

The use of music, or "Breathing in Beats," enhances this process by entraining your brain to specific frequencies, amplifying the meditative and euphoric effects. Together, these elements not only energise your body but also create a profound state of mental clarity and emotional balance.

I am currently offering a 6-week online course starting in January 2025.  

This course includes:

- 6x 1hr sessions delivered via Zoom

- access to a recording of every class if you can't join live

- 25 minute recording of a 'daily dose' breathwork practice

- access to a private WhatsApp group to ask questions and share experiences
